She
rushed out of bed and ran for the bathroom. She slid to the ground
and knelt over the toilet, letting the contents of her stomach fall
into the bowl. The sounds caused him to get out of bed and walk down
the hallway into the bathroom. He stood in the doorway, looking over
at her.
“That's
the third day in a row this has happened.”
“You
don't think I've realized this?”
“Maybe
you should go to the doctors.”
“Maybe
you should go home to your family.” She looked up at him and wiped
her mouth as she stood up.
“I'm
just trying to look out for you.”
“You
don't have to. I can carry my own.” She opened the mirror and
reached for her tooth brush, quickly wetting it and placing a glob of
tooth paste on top.
“Whatever.”
And without another word, he walked away, slamming the front door
after himself.
